Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small town situated in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of diverse communities. For those who haven't heard of it often confuse it with an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is commonly known as the place where she was born. It is true that she resided there for a very short period of time. Brugel grew on Courtice just outside Oshawa in Ontario. When she was a child she hoped to become a performer but an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet, 1 inch." When I grew out of male companions and gave up, I decided to give up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In Brugel's case, it was the encouragement of her drama teacher at high school that led her in the direction she wanted. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the annual school production. She auditioned and eventually got the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned an Associate in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, she's appeared in over 60 productions both large and small. Most notable was when she landed the role of Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the character Rita in The Handmaid's Tale the series filming over 10 years ago.
